The KNIT SAFARI Viola Sweater is an easy to knit, easier to wear, comfortable classic v neck knit sweater pattern. With visible seams creating a linear effect, this knitted jumper works up quickly in double knit weight yarn, while still being lightweight to layer over a blouse, or wear under a coat.

The body of the Viola Sweater is knitted in flat panels, that are seamed with a crochet hook on the right side to create a spine effect. The sleeves are worked seamlessly in the round to reduce bulk, and then the V neckline trim is worked at the end for a professional finish. If you have never picked up a crochet hook before, don't worry! You can seam up this sweater with a needle in the traditional way.

FIT: The Viola Sweater is a normal fit. You may wish to knit a larger size for an oversized fit.

The adult model is a UK size 10-12 and is wearing the Viola Sweater in size medium.

SIZES: Adults from XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL (30-60” Bust)

YARN: 4 (4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9) skeins of Wayfaring Yarns Arcadia DK (100g; 200m (215 yds), or an equivalent double knit yarn with 11 wpi (yarn estimates are approximate.)

  • 6mm circular knitting needles, with a cable 100-150 cm long (depending on the size you are making)
  • 6mm crochet hook
  • 2 stitch markers
  • Yarn sewing needle

  • Casting on (I like the Long Tail Cast On technique)
  • 1x1 Rib Stitch
  • Knitting flat
  • Increasing stitches
  • Decreasing stitches
  • Seaming pieces together using an invisible seaming technique
  • Pick up and knit stitches
