Linen Vest - Downloadable Knitting Pattern
The KNIT SAFARI Linen Vest is a modern spin on a sleeveless vest, with strongly defined Half-Twisted Rib bordering the side seams, armholes, and neckline. Wear it alone in Summer, or throw on over a crisp white shirt when the temperature plummets. The hardest choice will be deciding whether you want to flash some skin with the lace-up version, or keep things sewn up with the side-seam version. We say: make both!
The Linen Vest is constructed in flat panels, seamed at the shoulders This pattern includes two options: either with holes to lace up with ribbon, or without holes to sew up the side seams. I love the flash of skin that the lace up version gives, and used a sheer black chiffon ribbon (that I whizzed up on my sewing machine, using some leftover fabric and my rolled hem sewing matching foot!)
FIT: The Linen Vest is a normal fit. You may wish to knit a larger size for an oversized fit, or a smaller size for a more fitted look.
The adult model is a UK size 10-12 and is wearing the Split Side Tank in size medium.
SIZES: Adults from XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL (30-60” Bust)
YARN: 663 (718, 825, 938, 1058, 1185, 1335, 1465, 1608) metres of Cotton DK yarn with approx 14 wraps per inch, equivalent to approximately 6 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) x50g balls of yarn (yarn estimates are approximate.)
We used 7 balls of Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Misty Grey for the size medium.
Can't find this yarn near you, or not sure if the yarn in your stash will work? We always recommend that you knit a test swatch to check your gauge before starting out, and finding the right combination of needle size and type and yarn to match the gauge in the pattern.
