Pussyhat Project: Chunky Style

The Pussyhat Project is a global movement that started as a small project among friends, and has spread across the world. On Instagram, #pussyhatproject has over 50,000 posts and this is only set to continue to grow.  Do you want to make your own Pussyhat and learn how to make it look seamless and professionally finished? Well I have the perfect pattern for you! Chunky Knits and Slow Fashion

As a chunky knit fan, I'm always excited to try different brands to see how the yarn works up, how they word their patterns, and how squishy the fibres are. I've spent a lot on kits and supplies from Wool And The Gang and pure pencil roving from various yarn suppliers based in the UK. Like all their kits, this comes with a beautiful ball of The Wool, 15mm Birchwood knitting needles, the pattern and a sewing needle. I am not sure why I expected it to also include the pillow stuffing, but I imagine that they don't want to be shipping huge amounts of non-yarny fluff everywhere, so be warned: you'll need to source your own. The pattern is easy to follow to...

Wool Week 2016

Wool Week 2016 & Hobbycraft The Campaign for Wool is now in its seventh year, with the aim to educate people about wool. As a natural and renewable fibre, wool is versatile and has many benefits - it is breathable so keeps you warm and dry in the winter, and helps cool you down in summer. This year, Hobbycraft asked me to create a hat using the West Yorkshire Spinners 100% Jason DK yarn. After various swatches and tests, I settled on an oversized chunky hat with a deep brim and giant pompom. Extreme knits and yarns are a huge trend in the fashion and knitwear industry right now, so this pattern uses the yarn held double to get a...
